PHOEBE Creative Director

As the name suggests, Phoebe Gazal is the founder and creative director of Phoebe Gazal Design (PGD). She started the business from a modest base in 1988, having worked at various design and advertising agencies including Clemenger, Sydney. Phoebe had already demonstrated how well her style and taste complemented her aptitude for design, having gained second class honours as a Design major in completing her Visual Communications course at The University of Technology some years earlier.

What originally began as simple designs for friends’ wedding invitations led to many requests for her unique stationery, then to larger corporate events and the business grew quickly from there. Then, with Phoebe’s knowledge of superior style and etiquette, it wasn’t too long before people wanted not just her beautiful stationery, but also her vision and advice to create and style unforgettable events. Very soon Phoebe was providing private consultations to oversee high society parties and corporate events.

Phoebe Gazal Design is Sydney’s only design agency that specialises in corporate invitations. After 12 years Phoebe’s knowledge of specialist stock, printing processes and envelope options is unrivalled. She loves to experiment with new methods of printing and creates her own techniques, pushing the creative boundaries and possibilities. This translates to corporate invitations which set an event apart, getting guests excited from the very start.

Phoebe truly ‘walks her talk’ and it is easy to see why her clients love her work and request her private consultations time and time again. Her direct and engaging character is easy-going and her passion for style and etiquette and for creating beautiful experiences is never far from mind.

Phoebe also runs Papier d’Amour, a retail business specialising in wedding, event and bespoke stationery and high end stationery products.

ROBERT Director

Robert, the co director of PGD, brings to the team his superior grammatical expertise and attention to detail. All jobs are proof read by Robert who has an amazing understanding of the English language and knows where to check if unsure. He completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree, majoring in Marketing at UNSW. He has had a diverse career, initially as the youngest graduate trainee in marketing at IBM Australia in the early 1980’s. By the age of 26, Robert was Vice President of International Operations at Carragreen, an International Investment marketing Company which sponsored major tennis and golf tournaments in New Zealand, giving him an early insight into large scale corporate events. Robert has also worked for major international banks on the hectic trading floor of the colourful Sydney Futures Exchange.

Every job is proofed by Robert who is unapologetically pedantic.

CAROLINE Graphic Designer

Caroline is an incorrigible lover of stationery and graphic design. After her studies at Whitehouse Institute of Design and Billy Blue College of Design, Swedish-born Caroline pursued her career as a graphic designer in Australia.

With six years working across many aspects of the stationery industry, Caroline’s passion for design, textiles and paper brought her to Phoebe Gazal Design, where her experience and attention to detail make her a perfect fit with the team.

DIDIProduction + Stationery consultant

Didi has been with PGD for over five years and has an intrinsic knowledge of the workings of the business. Her responsibilities include the overseeing of all jobs from start to finish. Each invitation and design piece passes through Didi’s hand as she meticulously checks all items one by one.

Didi inspects all work at both the pre- and post-production stages before final approval from Phoebe so she has a thorough knowledge and understanding of the high standards that the business maintains. Her experience, professional approach and bubbly personality make her a great point of liaison for any client.
